CURRENT FIRE BAN STATUS
May 10th, 2024  12:00 pm
There is currently a FIRE ADVISORY IN EFFECT

In keeping with municipal policy and having consulted with local and regional fire advisory, the Summer Village of Nakamun Park is hereby downgrading the Fire Ban to a Fire Advisory effective at 12:00noon today, May 10th, 2024.

During this Fire Advisory,  use of approved recreational fire pits may resume, in addition to approved cooking and heating uses (propane, natural gas, wood, and charcoal/briquettes). No new fire permits will be issued, including any consideration of fire works/special events permits, and burn barrels/incinerators remain a prohibited use in the municipality.

Please review Bylaw #2024-2 for additional detail on the fire ban process or permitted/prohibited uses.

The municipality’s fire ban status will continue to be monitored during the changing conditions, and in consultation with our regional partners and our local fire department. This Fire Advisory will remain in effect until altered by the municipality.

Please contact 911 to report any emergency situations. Contact the Administration Office at 780-967-0271 to report any breach of the fire ban restrictions.

Fire Safety (Campfires)

FIRE BAN DECLARATION PROCESS

Under municipal policy (A-FIRE-PRO-1, 2023), the Fire Ban status is an administrative undertaking with the decision made in consultation with Council, Our Local Fire Chief/Department, and our neighbouring municipality (Lac Ste. Anne County). Although we do have an independent responsibility to review Fire Bans in our municipality, we do strive to coordinate with Lac Ste. Anne County as this helps avoid confusion between our policy and that impacting neighbouring subdivisions around the lake.

Please also note that there are different levels of fire ban status to be aware of, with varying levels of restriction which may be expanded to include traditional (wood burning) fit pits, propane or gas fire pits, grills and BBQs, and UTV/ATVs, depending on the severity of local or regional fire risk. A note of fire ban status change will include specifics of the restrictions as updated from time to time.
