Our newest Summer Village council member, Ray Gertz, has created a Nakamun Crime Watch group on the messaging platform “WhatsApp” to keep the community informed about any possible criminal activity in the area. Anyone noticing suspicious activity or vehicles can post warnings or pictures. Any reports of break-ins can also be shared
The WhatsApp platform is being used because it does not require a FaceBook account (like FaceBook Messenger) and is more flexible for managing lists than SMS text messaging.
If you are interested in joining the Nakamun Crime Watch group, here is what you need to do:
– Install WhatsApp on your phone and/or computer
– Create an account in WhatsApp, using your phone number to register
– Add your full name to your WhatsApp profile
– Send an email message to Ray.Gertz@svnakamun.com requesting to be added to the Nakamun Crime Watch group with your full name, phone number, and address at Nakamun Lake. Ray will then send you a link which you can open to join the group.
This is the first message group to be created on WhatsApp, there are plans to add more groups for a variety of topics to keep local residents informed and engaged in community discussion.
