Given strong community interest in the emerging sport of pickleball, Council is exploring the installation of new pickleball courts in the summer village. The initial proposal identifies Ted Macdonald Park, near the main road, as the preferred location.
The project budget range is $39,000 – $66,000, depending on whether one or two courts are installed. This project can be funded through existing reserves and capital project grants, the exact amount of grant funding available is still unknown at this early stage.
The proposed design includes two hard-surface (paved) courts enclosed by a security fence with a lockable gate. To help address potential noise concerns, Council plans to establish set operating hours and is considering using sound-dampening materials on the fencing.
