Glimmer of hope?

We just got back from the LSA County Municipal Planning Commission meeting, and LSAC council has decided to defer the decision on the Masse development application until the September MPC meeting. That is the good news. The better news is that there was quite a bit of discussion among the councilors about rejecting the development application based on:
– the RV park may not be a recommended use under the county Land Use Bylaws (they need to review and clarify this point)
– concerns with the distance between the property location and the closest paved road, there is a lot of gravel for the county to maintain for this traffic.
– recognizing the amount of dissent from the summer village and surrounding residents to this development

This is much better news than I had expected, and gives us some hope that the county council is seriously considering rejecting the application.

Follow-up to the Masse RV park development, we found out at the end of day Friday that the Masse development application has been included on the Lac Ste Anne County Municipal Planning Committee (MPC) agenda for the Aug 3 meeting, 9:30am at the county administration building in Sangudo.

The meeting agenda has not been posted on the LSAC web site yet, but for reference here is the agenda from the July MPC meeting:

All of SV Nakamun council will be attending the MPC meeting and any members of the community that are interested in attending are welcome. We have very little additional information, anything that we receive before the meeting I will post on SV web site.

We have completely sold out of dinner tickets for the 50th anniversary celebration and have a waiting list for cancellations. If you have tickets that you cannot use, please return them to Marge Hanssen and we will refund the cost of the ticket while we have a waiting list.

Marge can be contacted at 587-986-7885 to either be added to the waiting list or have tickets refunded.

Quick update on the Masse RV park development. We found out today that the Masse development application has been removed from the agenda for the July 6 LSAC Municipal Planning Commission meeting as the county is waiting for more reports, it is currently expected to be addressed in the August MPC meeting.

Supper tickets for the 50th anniversary will be on sale at the hot dog lunch on July 1 and also at the village annual meeting on July 9, tickets are $10 for adults and children 10 and up and $5 for children 4-9. Cut-off for ticket sales is July 9, so purchase them early!

We are now just a month away from our 50th anniversary party. The committee has been working hard to provide a fun day for everyone. As of now, we have only 4 entries for the parade! While we appreciate these 4 , we need many more entries. The parade line up is at 11:30. It will go from the park to the east end of Nakamun Drive at noon. We encourage you to please talk to your family and friends to enter your quads, bikes, vintage cars, floats, or walk. Please let us know as soon as possible to ediefry13@gmail.com or 780-446-7011.

I have started receiving questions about how to register for 50th Anniversary activities, here is a summary of the activities and how to register.

• 7:30am: Best ball golf tournament at Barrhead
  Click here for entry form.
• 11:30am: Parade participants to meet at Ted MacDonald Park
  Contact Edie at ediefry13@gmail.com or 780-446-7011 by July 10 to register for parade.
• Noon: Parade starts at Ted MacDonald Park
• 11:30am – 4:00pm: Food booth
  Onoway High School Travel club will be hosting a food booth at the park
• 1:00pm – 5:00pm: Activities in the park
  A variety of kids, teen, and adult games will be held in the park
• 5:30pm: Catered supper at the park
  Tickets can be purchased from Marge at 587-986-7885 (4th Street), Dyann at 780-967-0069 (Nakamun Drive), or Lora at 780-476-4804 (Edmonton).
• 6:30pm: Golf and door prizes, introductions and cake cutting
• 7:00pm: Dance at Ted MacDonald Park
  Come out and enjoy live music by the Trace Jordan Band
• 11:00pm: Fireworks at the boat launch

Minor correction to previous post, the parade will travel east of Ted McDonald park through to the east end of the village.
