April 25th, 2024Re: SVNP Byelection 2024 – Reminder of Nomination Day – April 27th, 2024Nomination Day for the Summer Village of Nakamun Park Byelection is just a few days away! Thank you to everyone who showed up for the Prospective Candidate Question and Answer last week, and to all who have enquired about the election process in recent days.As a reminder, prospective candidates must submit their completed and signed candidate nomination and acceptance forms (Form 4), and candidate financial information forms (Form 5) to the Returning Officer between 10am and 12noon on Saturday April 27th, 2024, at the Village Shop (5563A Nakamun Drive, Lot R7). Late submissions will not be accepted. Additional information, including the forms and useful resource information, can be found on the summer village website Byelection 2024 tab.Following the close of Nomination Day, the Returning Officer will provide an Unofficial Result of Nomination Day statement to the municipality. If no nominations are accepted, the nomination period will be extended. If a single nomination for the sole vacancy on council is accepted the candidate will be declared elected by acclamation. If more than one nomination is received, and the deadline for withdrawing a nomination passes with multiple nominations remaining, the election will be contested.Following the outcome of Nomination Day, the municipality will update the electorate accordingly, including details of voting opportunities, dates, times and locations if applicable.
